I april 2020 släpps början på en ny serie av Veronica Roth, ”Chosen Ones”. Jag gillade verkligen hennes Divergent-trilogi men efter det har hon inte släppt några böcker som jag har känt ”yes” över, tills nu. Den här verkar riktigt spännande.

A decade ago near Chicago, five teenagers defeated the otherworldly enemy known as the Dark One, whose reign of terror brought widespread destruction and death. The seemingly un-extraordinary teens—Sloane, Matt, Ines, Albie, and Esther—had been brought together by a clandestine government agency because one of them was fated to be the “Chosen One,” prophesized to save the world. With the goal achieved, humankind celebrated the victors and began to mourn their lost loved ones.

Ten years later, though the champions remain celebrities, the world has moved forward and a whole, younger generation doesn’t seem to recall the days of endless fear. But Sloane remembers. It’s impossible for her to forget when the paparazzi haunt her every step just as the Dark One still haunts her dreams. Unlike everyone else, she hasn’t moved on; she’s adrift—no direction, no goals, no purpose. On the eve of the Ten Year Celebration of Peace, a new trauma hits the Chosen: the death of one of their own. And when they gather for the funeral at the enshrined site of their triumph, they discover to their horror that the Dark One’s reign never really ended.

I maj 2020 dyker den här boken upp som ska vara en prequel till The Hunger Games. Jag blev snabbt nyfiken på denna och trots att jag har svårt för både titel och omslag kommer den här nog hamna i bokhyllan vad det lider.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will revisit the world of Panem sixty-four years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the Tenth Hunger Games.

I november kan vi se fram emot nytt från Erin Morgenstern då hennes The Starless Sea släpps. Även denna boken är en fantasy och trots att jag ännu inte har läst The Night Circus är jag väldigt nyfiken på denna.

Zachary Ezra Rawlins is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a mysterious book hidden in the stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors, and nameless acolytes, he reads something strange: a story from his own childhood. I mars 2020 släpps House of Earth and Blood, första boken i en ny serie av författaren Sarah J. Maas. Med denna serie fortsätter Maas inom fantasygenren och jag gissar att många är förväntansfulla inför detta boksläpp.

Jag har ju pratat om Tahereh Mafis kommande bok förut, men varför inte göra det igen? Jag har läst Shatter Me-serien av henne och har även Furthermore här hemma som jag tänkte läsa. Men den nya boken verkar onekligen intressant och jag tror definitivt att jag kommer vilja läsa den.

A Very Large Expanse of Sea släpps i alla fall den 16 oktober.

It’s 2002, a year after 9/11. It’s an extremely turbulent time politically, but especially so for someone like Shirin, a sixteen-year-old Muslim girl who’s tired of being stereotyped.

Shirin is never surprised by how horrible people can be. She’s tired of the rude stares, the degrading comments—even the physical violence—she endures as a result of her race, her religion, and the hijab she wears every day. So she’s built up protective walls and refuses to let anyone close enough to hurt her. Instead, she drowns her frustrations in music and spends her afternoons break-dancing with her brother.

But then she meets Ocean James. He’s the first person in forever who really seems to want to get to know Shirin. It terrifies her—they seem to come from two irreconcilable worlds—and Shirin has had her guard up for so long that she’s not sure she’ll ever be able to let it down.

Jag har blivit allt mer nyfiken på Becky Albertalli efter att ha hört så mycket gott om hennes böcker. I slutet av april släpps hennes senaste bok, Leah on the Offbeat.

When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat—but real life isn’t always so rhythmic. An anomaly in her friend group, she’s the only child of a young, single mom, and her life is decidedly less privileged. She loves to draw but is too self-conscious to show it. And even though her mom knows she’s bisexual, she hasn’t mustered the courage to tell her friends—not even her openly gay BFF, Simon.

So Leah really doesn’t know what to do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways. With prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high. Självklart väntar jag på andra delen i Caraval-serien, Legendary. Den släpps i slutet av maj och än har jag inte förbokat den men det kommer, tro mig. Jag ser verkligen fram emot att fortsätta den här serien!

I mitten av maj kommer fjärde och sista delen i Red Queen-serien, War Storm. Böckerna är skrivna av Victoria Aveyard. Jag gillar den här serien överlag så det ska bli riktigt spännande att läsa sista delen nu och få svar på alla frågor.

Den 6 mars kommer fjärde delen i Shatter Me-serien, Restore Me, av Tahereh Mafi. Detta är en serie som jag trodde var avslutad men samtidigt är en fortsättning välkommen! Jag gillar storyn, karaktärerna och Mafis sätt att skriva så jag ser fram emot boken.

I slutet av maj släpper Kasie West sin nya bok, Listen to Your Heart. Det här är en författare som jag verkligen vill läsa något av men av någon anledning verkar det inte hända. Denna gången kanske?

Talking to other people isn’t Kate Bailey’s favorite activity. She’d much rather be out on the lake, soaking up the solitude and sunshine. So when her best friend, Alana, convinces Kate to join their high school’s podcast, Kate is not expecting to be chosen as the host. Now she’ll have to answer calls and give advice on the air?
